The Supreme Court agreed Wednesday to wade into a years-old legal battle over South Carolina’s failed bid to cut Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to take up yet another case that could have a direct impact on abortion access in America, this time in a matter out of South Carolina where the state’s health department is going head to head with a patient who claims a recent Republican-led push to cut off Planned Parenthood funding violates her right to choose a health care provider under federal law.

In a pivotal move, the United States Supreme Court announced Wednesday that it will review South Carolina's controversial decision to cut off state funding for Planned Parenthood clinics, which provide critical health services to low-income residents.
