The Starbucks Workers United union announced an escalating strike, extending its work stoppage in stores across the country from December 20 to 24.

Workers at the store at Grand Boulevard and Sidney Street plan to walk off the job at noon Sunday, and workers at two other area stores will strike before Christmas.

Starbucks workers across the U.S. will start a five-day strike Friday, demanding progress in stalled labor contract talks.
